T h e A r t i s t
Driven by a deep sense of inner exploration, Barbi's award winning art is nothing less than transcendent. Imbued with an uncommon translucency and fragility, Barbi creates ethereal visions from her mind's eye, making even the most ordinary of subjects magical.
Born on an Air Force base in Wiesbaden, Germany to an American father and German mother, Barbi experienced the beautiful diversity of the world at an early age. Living a nomadic existence as the military family moved from assignment to assignment, Barbi came to love and respect the art and culture of many lands. As an adult, Barbi settled in rural Southeast, Missouri, and after raising a family, began to devote herself full time to her art.
An award winning artist with a domestic and international base of collectors, Barbi works primarily in oil on stretched canvas. An avid gardener, Barbi feels a close affinity for roses and uses them as her prime subject matter. In 2002 her garden won the St. Louis Post Dispatch award for Best Garden Design featuring roses.
